The Chambal safari is a fine instance of eco-friendly tourism in rural India and provides the chance to witness the rich heritage and wildlife legacy set against an arid backdrop. It provides a unique experience of a river cruise on the River Chambal, sailing through ravines providing encounters with Ghariyals and Crocodiles.
A birdwatcher’s paradise, the Chambal riverbanks are the ideal habitat for numerous migratory and resident birds. Enjoy a river safari which provides spectacular opportunities to view the wildlife. With trained naturalists as your guide, the safari is a most relaxing, enjoyable and special experience.
The safari is for one hour (extendable on prorata basis) and your boat escort takes you quite far in to the river bed to experience the natural habitat of Ghariyals, Crocodile, turtles and close to 300 species of resident and migratory birds.
Following lunch, continue to the ancient temple complex at Bateshwar on the river Yamuna, 10 kilometres from Chambal, consisting of more than a hundred temples dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. A huge cattle fair is held here every year during the months of October and November.
