Bullet Baba Temple in Rajasthan – World’s Only Bike Temple
It happens only in India… This belief is strengthened when you see places like this. This is the only temple in world where a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle is worshiped. In the country of millions of Gods, there is a unique place near Jodhpur, Rajasthan where you can find this Bullet Baba temple at which a motor bike being worshiped by the riders instead of some godly idol.
If you are travelling through the Pali-Jodhpur highway in Rajasthan without worshipping the bullet baba, beware, there is no surety that you would reach your destination. The vehicle riding through here passes without stopping by blowing the horn and that is the offering for baba.
Place commonly known as Om Banna lies some 20 kilometers before Pali from Jodhpur. There are several beliefs & myths attached to it. Named after a Rajput Rider named Om Banna who died in a road accident while returning to his home. After his death police took the bike in their custody twice or thrice but every time it was found missing from the police station and returns back at the spot of the accident.
Legend states that the motorcycle kept returning to the same ditch. It thwarted every attempt by police to keep it at the local police station; the motorcycle was always returned to the same spot before dawn. People believing in Om Banna says that he then came in the dream of the police station head & asked him to leave his bike”Royal Enfield Bullet” at the spot of his death. Since then the bike is lying here and the place has now been converted into a temple where the bike is worshiped.
The faith in the temple is so huge that thousands of people are coming here daily to worship the bike specially the riders who are concerned of their road safety.
Here the offering is beer and that too only the “Bullet” brand. The devotees prostrated in front of the footrest of 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet…. After rounding the bullet, the devotees worship their bullet baba by offering beer.
